BERLINALE GRAND PRIX WIN

Mother, I Love You (Mammu, es Tevi milu) has won The Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus International Jury for 'Best Feature Film' at Berlinale International Film Festival. Tom worked with Director Janis Nords as Sound Designer and Re-recording mixer. Click here to watch the film's trailer.

MOTHER, I LOVE YOU

FILMS WINNING AWARDS

Three films which Tom worked on as Sound Designer and Mixer have won awards recently...

Damned has won several awards including 'Best Postgraduate Animation' at the Royal Television Society Awards and 'Best Foreign Student Film' at the China International Animation Festival.

Chop Chop recently won the top award at Filminute 2012. Another Bird Box Studio film that Tom created the sound for called Wildebeest also received a Jury Commendation.

And Shezad Dawood has been awarded a Channel 4 commision at the Jarman Awards for his film 'Trailer'.

PIERCING BRIGHTNESS

Tom has just completed work as Sound Designer on 'Piercing Brightness'. The feature-lengh film was directed by artist Shezad Dawood and relates to his current major solo exhibition of the same name. The exhibition incorperates 'Trailer' - a fifteen minute film which Tom also worked on as Sound Designer.

WILDEBEEST

Tom's latest work with Bird Box Studio was on the animated short 'Wildebeest'. Just like the Singing Christmas Hedgehogs, the Wildebeest have already soared past 3 million online views.

LOVELY YOUNG PEOPLE (BEAUTIFUL SUPPLE BODIES)

Tom recently worked with artist Rosalind Nashashibi on her short film Lovely Young People (Beautiful Supple Bodies). It was shot at the headquaters of the Scottish Ballet in Glasgow and uses sound to 'draw us into the different perspectives of the film'. It was screened at the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art and the Guardian described it as 'a work of outstanding empathy and grace'.

CHOP CHOP!

Following on from the success of Singing Christmas Hedgehogs (3.5 million YouTube views), Tom has worked with Bird Box Studio to produce an new animated short called Chop Chop - click here to watch it.

OPENING NIGHT

April 4th 2012 saw the opening of a major solo exhibition by Shezad Dawood at Modern Art Oxford - including Trailer - which Tom worked on as Sound Designer and Mixer.

The film is '...an alternative edit from the artist’s feature length film, Piercing Brightness, as a 15-minute, experimental “trailer”...presented in a purpose-built viewing space'.

The exhibtion will be running until 10.06.12.

GOLDEN REEL NOMINATION

Tom's sound work on Damned has earned him a nomination in the prestigious 59th MPSE GOLDEN REEL AWARDS. Each year, the Motion Picture Sound Editors acknowledge the best work in sound editing. MIRAGE WINNING AWARDS

Having won the Cottbus Discovery Award and the main award at the Pravo Ljudski Film Festival last year, Mirage (an "exploration of displacement, longing and desire") has also just won the Best Short documentary Award at the London Short Film Festival. Tom worked with Director Srdan Keca on the film in the role of Sound Designer and Rerecording Mixer.

THE RED BIKE & THE DOOR

Tom has been working with writer/director Andrew Steggall and Motion Group Pictures on two short films - The Red Bike and The Door. The latter is based on The Door in the Wall by H. G. Wells and stars Charles Dance, Harriet Walter and Tobias Menzies.

LONG DISTANCE INFORMATION

Tom recently completed work on a short film called Long Distance Information - written and directed by Douglas Hart and starring Peter Mullan. The film is a black comedy set on one Christmas day between East Kilbride and London and explores the strained relationship between a father and his 20 year old son.

THREE OLIVES VODKA
Tom has been working with animation company Bird Box Studio on commercials developed by L.A. based advertising agency M&C Saatchi. The campaign is a humorous series of TV spots for Three Olives Vodka.
